Shocking Truth revealed: Virat Kohli was in talks for captaincy in the Australia series only to be snubbed
India will be touring Australia after a long time for a white ball series. The series is a highly anticipated contest between the two giants of the game, and it also includes the return of Indian legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the tricoloured jersey.
While the two veterans set their eyes on the upcoming Cricket World Cup in 2027, the Indian management is yet to provide their stance on the role of the two cricketers. Amid such controversies, a major drama unfolds as Indian management's hypocrisy with Virat has been revealed from the previous BGT series in Australia.
Virat Kohli snubbed despite Captaincy promises in the Australia series
RevSportz reporter Rohit Juglan has mentioned that the former Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli was lured with captaincy after the Adelaide loss by the Indian management. This came at the back of Rohit Sharma's compromised form in the longest of the game.
Rohit's performance stooped to an all-time low, as his average dipped to single digits in the series. Rohit sat himself out for the final Test at Sydney; however, India struggled and lost the BGT by a margin of 3-1. Virat Kohli was the first Indian skipper to have won a BGT Trophy on Australian soil and also to have retained it for such a long time.
However, his position on the side was thrown into jeopardy until the conclusion of the series. This might have been one of the core reasons for Virat Kohli drawing the curtains on his Test career.
Rohit Sharma reveals future plans ahead of the much-awaited Australia tour
In his recent appearance on a talk show alongside presenter Mayanti Langer, the former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma discussed his legacy in the island nation and his plans for the upcoming tour.
"Your first tour of Australia was in 2008?" Mayanti Langer, the presenter, asked, while the former skipper Rohit Sharma answered, 'Yes, 2008!'
She further continued, "2008 to now, 2025—that's a sea change. You love this opposition and you love scoring runs against them."
Rohit Sharma replied, "I love playing against them, and I love going to Australia. It's a challenging country to play cricket in, and the people there love the game as well. But certainly, Australia will throw a different challenge, which they have every time they played against us."
"But having been there several times, I do understand what to expect. But hopefully, we can go there and do what the Indian team is supposed to do. Try and win games and get the result in our favour," he highlighted the challenges posed by the Aussies.
