Rohit Sharma joins Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in the elite list, becoming only the fifth Indian player to achieve his feat
Indian Cricket Team batter Rohit Sharma achieved a massive feat in the national colours. He became the fifth Indian player to play 500 games in international cricket, joining the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Rahul Dravid.
Rohit Sharma achieved the feat in the ongoing first ODI between the Indian Cricket Team and the Australian Cricket Team. The opening match of the three-match series between the teams is taking place at the Perth Cricket Stadium in Perth.
Rohit Sharma, who is a stalwart of Indian cricket, played for the first time as a player in the last few years. The premier batter was recently replaced as the ODI skipper by Shubman Gill, who is also the test captain of the Indian side since June.
Rohit Sharma made his comeback into the Indian side after a long gap of seven months. However, he didn’t have the kind of outing that he would have wanted. The premier batter looked in good touch but couldn’t carry on as he got out early.
Rohit Sharma was removed by Josh Hazlewood for just 8 runs. But despite the failure, he achieved a massive milestone as he became only the fifth player in the history of Indian cricket to play 500 games in international cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar sits at the top of the list with 664 games for India followed by Virat Kohli with 551 games. MS Dhoni sits third on the list followed by Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma
