RCB New Captain for IPL 2022 to be announced on March 12th: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are the only franchise that is yet to announce its leader for the upcoming fifteenth season of the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL). With not more than three weeks left for the start of the Tata IPL 2022, the fans and experts are fretting over the unnecessary delay caused by the franchise to name the new skipper of the team.

However, in the latest development, RCB has confirmed that they will be ‘unboxing’ their new leader on March 12. The franchise has called a press conference at 4 PM for the same.

Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis is the man to be named as the new RCB commander for the IPL 2022, as per various close sources. The franchise has zeroed on South African dashing opener batsman to be Virat Kohli’s successor.

With the diverse experience of leading South Africa across formats for years, Faf du Plessis got the nod ahead of Maxwell. The cricketer is also available from day one of the IPL 2022.

Earlier, Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell was the favourite to be named captain, however, his unavailability for the first couple of weeks of IPL 2022 nudged the officials to revisit their decision.

Maxwell will not be available to feature in the IPL 2022 until April 5 due to Cricket Australia’s policy of not allowing their contracted players to feature in any cricket league when their national team is playing bilateral or any other national matches.

Though Maxwell has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia (CA) to participate in the TATA IPL 2022, it will only be applicable from March 6th.

The announcement of the new skipper of RCB is set to be made in the newly launched RCB Bar and Cafe. The franchise jersey is also likely to be revealed on the same day at 4 PM.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will kickstart its IPL 2022 campaign against Mayank Agarwal’s Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 27th. The fixture will be staged at DY Patil Stadium, starting at 7:30 PM IST.
