RCB Mega Release: 5 Players Likely to Be Dropped in IPL 2026
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finally ended their trophy drought after a long wait by lifting the IPL 2025 trophy. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, they played fantastic cricket and had a historic campaign. Although they won the last edition, there are still lots of things the RCB need to fix to defend the title and lift another trophy.
With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction set to take place in December, RCB is expected to make some strategic releases to increase the purse and strengthen the team's weak spots. However, RCB has plenty of quality players in their squad, from Virat Kohli to Josh Hazlewood, but they still need some more options in every department.
Lungi Ngidi
South African pacer Lungi Ngidi played two matches in the IPL 2025 and had an economy rate of 10+. He was bought at a base price of Rs. 1 crore by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, but was able to put up those numbers that were expected from him. The team management will be looking to release him ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction.
Tim Seifert

PC: RCB (X)
The New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman, who is known for his aggressive batting, was signed as a backup but did not get a single game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Jitesh Sharma has done a fantastic job as both wicket-keeper and finisher, so Seifert’s retention seems unlikely for the upcoming season.
Nuwan Thushara
Sri Lankan Pacer Nuwan Thushara played one game in the IPL 2025 for RCB but had an expensive spell, which didn’t justify the Rs. 1.60 crore price tag. RCB will be looking to have some youngsters at the same price range who can become the next Bumrah for RCB.
Rashik Salam Dar
Rashik Salam Dar, the young Jammu & Kashmir pacer, came with high expectations in the last season but was not able to perform well and also had an expensive economy rate in the T20 cricket. RCB team management might drop this young talent for some consistent new-ball options.
Swapnil Singh
Swapnil was bought by RCB in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction at a price of Rs. 50 Lakh, but didn’t get a chance to appear for the franchise throughout the season. He was picked as a backup of Krunal Pandya, but was overshadowed by those quality players. RCB will be looking to release him as they have plenty of all-round options.
