Rahul Dravid briefs on how Indian cricket has grown to be extremely powerful due to the inflow of talent from all over the country

Legendary Indian batter and former coach of the national side, Rahul Dravid, in one of his recent interviews with the press, threw light on how the Indian team is ever-growing with their unique scope of talent that flows from different parts of India.

Dravid coached the Indian team to the World Cup finals in 2023 and also the T20 World Cup final that they won in the Caribbean. However, before turning in as the Team India coach, Dravid has been an eminent part who helped in the growth of Indian cricket.

Rahul was India’s coach for the U-19 team for a long time, as he also won the U-19 World Cup and gave India the scope of talented players like Shubman Gill and also Prithvi Shaw and Abhishek Sharma.

Rahul Dravid, the veteran, served as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for a long time, as he sighted talent in many players and also helped many players rehabilitate and also served massively to their betterment.

“If you look at Indian cricket today, Indian cricket is extremely strong; it’s extremely powerful,” Dravid said during the 50-year celebration of Mount Joy Cricket Club. “One of the big reasons for that is that talent comes from everywhere, from all over the country.”

He admitted that people coming from different parts of India had to reach out to big cities in order to bring out their talent, as previously there was not much scope for boys from small towns. Dravid also claimed that the higher standards of the Ranji Trophy and several other domestic tournaments are what has made the sport accessible in many parts of India.

“You cannot have talent or facilities concentrated only in one or two places. To get the best out of talent, we need to ensure that young boys and girls are getting access to good infrastructure in every part.”

Dravid will next be seen in the Rajasthan Royals camp, as he has been appointed as their head coach and mentor, replacing the likes of Sri Lankan legend Kumara Sangakara; however, he is also likely to move to the Kolkata Knight Riders before the IPL mega-auction for 2025.
