PSL 2026 Retentions: Babar, Shaheen Kept in Platinum; Multan Sultans Release Rizwan

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 have announced their retained players ahead of the first-ever player auction in PSL History, which is scheduled to take place on February 11, 2026. Some of the big names in Pakistan cricket, like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed and Hasan Ali, have been retained in the Platinum category.

However, Multan Sultans had not retained a single player in the PSL 2026 retentions, including their captain, Mohammad Rizwan. Multan Sultans are the only team with zero retention; therefore, they will be focusing on complete squad rebuilding ahead of the PSL 2026 Auction.

PSL 2026 Auction Details:

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 Auction is set to be held on February 11, 2026, and this is going to be the first-ever auction-based player selection system in the tournament's history. PSL 2026 is going to be the biggest season ever, and it is expected to be played in the same window as IPL 2026.

Key Auction rules:

• Each franchise has a purse of PKR 450 million, extendable to PKR 505 million.
• Teams can sign 16 to 20 players.
• 5 to 7 overseas players allowed
• Mandatory addition of at least one under-13 local player
• All players will receive two-year contracts.
• One player can be signed outside the auction.

Lahore Qalandars Retentions for PSL 2026

Shaheen Shah Afridi (Platinum), Abdullah Shafique (Diamond), Sikandar Raza (Gold) and Mohammad Naeem (Silver).

Quetta Gladiators Retentions for PSL 2026

Abrar Ahmed (Platinum), Usman Tariq (Diamond), Hasan Nawaz (Gold) and Shamyl Hussain (Emerging).

Islamabad United Retentions for PSL 2026

Shadab Khan (Platinum), Salman Irshad (Gold) and Andries Gous (Silver).

Peshawar Zalmi Retentions for PSL 2026

Babar Azam (Platinum), Sufyan Moqim (Diamond), Abdul Samad (Gold) and Ali Raza (Emerging).

Karachi Kings Retentions for PSL 2026

Hasan Ali (platinum), Mohammad Abbas Afridi (Diamond), Khushdil Shah (Gold) and Saad Baig (Emerging).

Multan Sultans Retentions for PSL 2026

Zero retentions

All About PSL 2026 Retentions:

For PSL 2026, each franchise can retain upto four players, one from each category - Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver before the PSL 2026 mega auction. There is no Right to Match (RTM) card like IPL, and teams can directly sign one foreign player outside the auction.

New Franchise Yet to Announce Retentions:

PSL 2026 will have two new teams, Sialkot Stallionz and Hyderabad, and they are yet to announce their retained players. Both the franchises have time until February 07, 2026, to finalise their list before the auction.
