PCB Sets 3 Conditions to Play India in T20 World Cup 2026

The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is likely to be played as scheduled on February 15 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo after discussions and meetings between the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

As per the reports from Cricbuzz, the Pakistan Cricket Board is reconsidering their earlier decision to boycott the India vs Pakistan game, but the final approval is now expected from Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif. But, with this, Pakistan puts 3 demands to the ICC to play against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The Controversy began when the Pakistan Cricket Board invoked the force majeure clause and said that the Pakistan Government instructed the team to avoid playing against India in the T20 World Cup 2026 while they will be participating in the other group-stage games.

However, ICC questioned the PCB’s decision and said that force majeure can only be applied in unavoidable or extreme situations, and selective withdrawal from a single match while playing other games in the tournament could lead to breach of the Members Participation Agreement (MPA).

ICC also formally responded to the Pakistan Cricket Board and clarified that if such a boycott happened, then they might face financial penalties, ban from bilateral series and regulatory actions.

Pakistan’s 3 demands on the table

To resolve this issue, the ICC sent senior officials Imran Khwaja (Deputy Chair) and Mubashir Usmani (ICC Director) to Lahore for a face-to-face meeting with PCB officials. As per reports, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif after which the final decision will be announced.

During the meeting in Lahore, the Pakistan Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board raised several demands, including the idea of a tri-series between India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. They also demanded:

• Increased financial compensation for Bangladesh
• Hosting rights for a future ICC event

However, ICC made it clear that it cannot guarantee bilateral or tri-series involving India, as these decisions are under the control of the BCCI and the Indian Government.
