Asia Cup 2023: Just a few more hours before we see the Asia Cup 2023 opening ceremony kicking off at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Pakistan. The opening ceremony will be followed by the opening clash between the hosts, Pakistan and Nepal, who will be making their debut in the six-team Asia Cup 2023. Nepal’s men’s cricket side has taken giant strides in the world of cricket after getting official recognition in 2018. The team has been on a roll since 2018 and now they have qualified to feature in the table which is mostly ruled by the big-wig Asian teams.
The Asia Cup 2023 would be Nepal’s maiden stint in the coveted six-team continental event, which features India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan as the other five teams. Nepal got a place of itself after winning the inaugural ACC Men’s Premier Cup earlier this year.
The team led by young Rahul Paudel, though, has many bright spots within his group, but facing the likes of Pakistan and India would be an arduous task for them. Nepal is grouped alongside India and Pakistan in Group A of the Asia Cup 2023, which means the team will have to conquer the two aforementioned opponents before heading into the Super 4s.
Meanwhile, Pakistan on the other side, would have their plans all set for the big stage. Babar Azam and his boys seem to be primed up nicely for the Asia Cup 2023 and the subsequent World Cup 2023.
The 17-man squad looks daunting and has many risky elements for the opponents, the Pakistani pacers are one of them. Though batting has been excellent for Pakistan, their main strength lies in their pace bowling lineup which boasts the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Usama Mir.
