Massive blow for India ahead of semi-final against Australia! Pratika Rawal ruled out of the entire ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that Indian opener Pratika Rawal has been ruled out of the entire ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. This comes as a massive blow as India is all set to take on Australia in the semi-final of the tournament.

Pratika Rawal got injured during the game against Bangladesh, which was the last league game of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 on Sunday, October 26. The opening batter got injured in the first innings of the game as she was fielding near the boundary ropes. 

In a rain-affected game at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Pratika Rawal slipped and fell awkwardly in the field. She looked in immense pain, which was visible on her face and she couldn’t even walk properly with the team's support staff taking her off the field. 

Pratika Rawal was must for India in the semi-final against Australia

Immediately, after the game was washed out, Pratika Rawal underwent scans and the reports didn’t come out good. Earlier, reports in Revsportz claimed that she would miss the semi-final against Australia but Cricbuzz stated that the opening batter wouldn’t be able to take part in the rest of the tournament.

This in turn comes as a significant blow as Pratika Rawal was must for India in the semi-final against Australia, especially with the kind of form she is in. She is amongst the top run-getters in the tournament and has played a massive role in India reaching the semi-final. 

Having made her debut in 2024, Pratika recently became the joint-fastest to 1000 runs in women's ODIs. In the game against New Zealand, she also hit her maiden World Cup century and would have held the key for her side. 

The India vs Australia semi-final will be played on Thursday (October 30). In the absence of Rawal in the Bangladesh game, Amanjot opened the innings. It remains to be seen who India opens with in the clash.
