List of all India captains in the ICC U19 World Cup

India have won the ICC U19 World Cup five times.

The ICC U19 World Cup 2026 is around the corner and the expectations for the tournament are in full flow. The event will be played from January 15 to February 6 in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The Indian squad for the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 will be captained by Ayush Mhatre. He will he having a great responsibility on his shoulders as quite a few Indian captains have made their mark in the tournament over the years, taking the team to glory. 

India have won the ICC U19 World Cup five times. Their first title came in 2000 and then from there they carried on the winning momentum, bagging the titles in 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022 editions.

India captains to win the ICC U19 World Cup 

Mohammad Kaif was the first Indian captain to win the ICC U19 World Cup. Under his leadership, India defeated Sri Lanka in the final. Then in 2008, it was Virat Kohli, who took India to win as they beat South Africa in the summit clash.

Unmukt Chand and Prithvi Shaw are also part of the elite list of India captains to win the ICC U19 World Cup. While Chand won the title in 2012, Shaw took the team to glory in the 2018 edition. Yash Dhull was the last Indian captain to win the U19 World Cup in 2022.
