IPL 2022 Mega Auction: The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise officials have been involved in consistent brainstorming for several days over key players they want to retain ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The IPL 2022 Player Retentions process is slated to be held on 30th November (9:30 PM IST) during which all the player retentions will be confirmed.
Amidst all the action going on with the existing eight franchises, the Lucknow based new IPL franchise is reported to have approached Indian opening batsman KL Rahul for his services.
RPSG Group won the bid to own and operate the Lucknow based new IPL franchise after shelling out a huge INR 7,090 crore during the team auction last month.
KL Rahul, earlier, indicated his intentions to part ways with his IPL franchise, Punjab Kings (PBKS) following the IPL 2021 conclusion. It was learnt that Rahul wants to seek better opportunities with other teams and doesn’t want to get retained.
Furthermore, some experts reckon that due to the consistent failure of Punjab Kings in the IPL, Rahul was apparently not happy with the outcomes in spite of giving his 101 per cent.
He remained the lone warrior in the side who scored almost 70-80 per cent of team runs in the last three years. He scored over 600 runs in the last two seasons and was also the highest run-getter in the IPL 2020.
The Lucknow based new IPL Franchise has zeroed-in on Indian batsman KL Rahul to be the skipper. The reports suggest that the negotiations are still on with the cricketer.
As per the IPL retention rules, each new franchise can pick up to three players outside the player auctions with mutual understanding and negotiations. The process of picking three players will begin soon after eight franchise completes their retention process.
The experts from the field say that if KL Rahul enters the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, he can put several franchises into a bidding war. He can easily fetch over INR 15 Crores if he gets under the hammer.
