Kane Williamson Returns! New Zealand Announces ODI squad for England series | NZ vs ENG 2025

New Zealand Cricket has officially announced the strong 14-member ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against England. The former captain Kane Williamson is back in the national setup after recovering from a minor medical issue. His comeback will be a major boost for New Zealand in the upcoming ODI series against England.

This series will be Williamson’s first international appearance since the ICC Championship Trophy 2025 Final against India, where New Zealand lost the final match by 4 wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Despite being part of the New Zealand squad, Williamson had opted for a casual contract instead of a full central contract to give opportunities for the other young players and flexibility to manage his fitness. In the past few months, he played domestic cricket in England for Middlesex and London Spirit.

Nathan Smith and Mitchell Santner Boost the Squad

The All-rounder Nathan Smith also returns to the ODI side after recovering from an abdominal injury sustained during the Test series against Zimbabwe in the last month. Smith has impressed selectors with his impressive performance in recent times and is expected to add more value to the lower-middle order.

Mitchell Santner will continue as captain for the ODI series against England, he has been a valuable asset for the team in the past few years with his all-round skills.
