On day 2 of the 5th Rescheduled Test Match of the India Tour of England 2021, Jasprit Bumrah created history. He created history with the bat. Bumrah scored 35 runs in one over from Stuart Broad! This makes the over, the most expensive over in test cricket history. Stuart Broad seems to have a problem with Punjabi batters. This is not the first time an Indian has wacked him for 35 or 36 runs in an over! Remember rockstar Yuvraj Singh tonking Broad for 36 runs! Here is an in-depth look at the same:

Jasprit Bumrah scores 35 runs from one over of Stuart Broad:

After Rishabh Pant made the Englishmen chase leather-like never before on Day 1, it was time for the Indian tail to wag. Ravindra Jadeja scored the 3rd century of his international career. The next man into bat was Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah and his batting skills have been improving over the years. He was facing Stuart Broad in the penultimate over of the Indian innings. This was the over that is going to be written in history.

Bumrah hit Broad for 2 sixes (one of which came off a no-ball). He also hit 4 boundaries and took a single on the last ball. All of this was accompanied by 5-wides on one of the deliveries. Bumrah cumulatively gathered 35 runs in this one over. He now holds the record for scoring the most runs in one over in Test History. The 83rd over of the Indian innings went as follows:

  • 1) the First ball was a boundary down to the fine leg
  • 2) A bouncer bowled too short, 5 wides for India.
  • 3) No Ball, Broad oversteps and bowls short, top-edge flies over the keeper for a six.
  • 4) Almost a six but the ball landed just short of the fence over mid-on. It was a juicy full toss.
  • 5) Inside edge goes for 4.
  • 6) Short ball hit towards deep mid-wicket for 4.
  • 7) A ball down towards the leg side, Bumrah clubbed the ball for a six over long-leg.
  • 8) 1 run of the last ball.

India ends with 416 runs:

With the help of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja and the heroics of Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian Team managed to score 416 runs in the first innings. Here are the brief scores from the first innings:

Indian Team: 416/10.

Rishabh Pant: 146 runs of 111 balls

Ravindra Jadeja: 104 runs of 194 balls.

James Anderson: 5/60.
