IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians announce replacement of injured Lizaad Williams, South Africa star joins franchise

Mumbai Indians have announced a replacement for the injured Lizard Williams ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The franchise has roped in South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch for the next edition of the tournament. 

Corbin Bosch will be joining Mumbai Indians, having repressed MI Capetown in the SA20 2024. The all-rounder played a key role in the franchise winning the tournament as he bagged 11 wickets in eight matches and also produced some brutal cameos down the order. 

Corbin Bosch will serve as a like-to-like replacement for Lizard Williams, who faced an injury recently. The all-rounder would be keen to carry on heroics from the SA20 2024 in the IPL and would be eager to help them lift their 6th title in the league. 

Corbin Bosch has been one of the best young all-rounders going in the South Africa Cricket. He recently made his debut for the team across formats. His numbers in T20s are decent as well as he has taken 59 wickets and has recorded a highest score of 81 with the bat.

Mumbai Indians confirmed the news ahead of the IPL 2025 on their social media platform. The franchise released the official statement and said: 

"South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been signed by Mumbai Indians as a replacement for Lizaad Williams, who has been ruled out of TATA IPL 2025 due to an injury.  Mumbai Indians wish Lizaad a speedy recovery and extend a warm welcome to Corbin into the OneFamily."

The IPL 2025 is all set to begin on 22nd March, with Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Mumbai Indians will open their campaign against Chennai Super Kings on 23rd March at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. 

Mumbai Indians finished last on the points table last year under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. The franchise would be hoping to make a strong comeback and lift their next title.
