IPL 2024: Indian flamboyant wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant heading closer to a cricket comeback as indicated by his attendance in the training camp organised by his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals in Kolkata. Pant’s presence in the training camp, and in good spirits, is a clear sign that the southpaw is eying his comeback very soon.

Reportedly, Delhi Capitals’ training camp was also attended by the think tank of the franchise including – head coach Ricky Ponting and Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly. The 4-day training camp is organised at the Jadavpur University ground in Kolkata by Delhi Capitals (DC).

The left-arm batter is expected to partake in the 4-day training camp actively and will thereafter play a couple of domestic games before getting finally introduced to the senior men’s side. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to adhere to the conservative approach in Rishabh’s case.

Notably, Pant met a threatening accident on the eve of the new year 2023 while on his way back home to Uttarakhand. The cricketer’s life was at risk as his car turned upside down after colliding with the divider on the Dehradun highway.

Fortunately, the glovesman was saved by a couple of samaritans, who took him to the nearby trauma centre, before shifting him to Dehradun’s Max Hospital, where he underwent a couple of surgeries.

In January 2023, Rishabh Pant was airlifted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital at the behest of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) where he spent his further initial recovery period. After successfully undergoing surgeries, the NCA medical team took charge of further rehabilitation of the cricketer.

Pant’s first public appearance, after the accident, came in April 2023 during the Delhi vs Gujarat fixture in the IPL 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Later in June, the batter began his light gym session with the Indian players. Two months later Pant was seen having a bat in his hand as he was ready to face a few deliveries. However, his recovery is still going on. He is expected to make his comeback very soon after missing a couple of major events.

In the latest video that surfaced all across the internet, Rishabh Pant is seen walking without discomfort. The wicketkeeper batter had a chat with the players and the support staff present in the training camp organised by Delhi Capitals.
