IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap - Updated on April 13

IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap – Updated on April 13: Ravindra Jadeja spearheaded Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secures its first win of the ongoing Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) season fifteen, defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a high scoring thriller in the DY Patil Stadium, last night.

After losing four matches on the trot, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were under extreme pressure to perform and bring up their maiden win of the tournament. Though dismantling Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) seemed a tricky task, more so after putting to bat first, CSK, however, showed a true glimpse of their character and style as they hammered RCB.

Ravindra Jadeja lost the toss and was asked to bat first. Once again the opening partnership couldn’t fetch fatty results for the team. Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his disappointing show. Moeen Ali, at number three, also couldn’t do wonders and was dismissed at a score of 3 runs.

The destruction began when in-form Shivam Dube walked into the field in the seventh over of CSK’s innings. Dube and opener Robin Uthappa wreaked havoc in the DY Patil Stadium as the duo stitched a massive 165 runs partnership for the third wicket.

Robin Uthappa whacked the opposition for 88 runs in 50 balls with the help of six gigantic maximums and four boundaries. On the other side, Shivam Dube used his long levers to tonk the RCB bowlers, who looked pale against the CSK duo. Dube muscled 95 runs from 46 deliveries with the help of eight sixes and five fours.

Owing to sensational efforts from Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa, CSK managed to put up a daunting total of 216 runs in the quota of 20 overs.

Chasing a total in excess of 200 is never easy, no matter who you are. The same happened with the RCB as they lost control of their innings right from the start. The scoreboard pressure kept CSK in the game as they secured their first win of the tournament by defeating RCB by 23 runs.

The opening combination for RCB failed to take charge. Virat Kohli looked out of touch in pursuit of a gigantic total. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell tried to drag RCB innings back on track, however, failed.

A bit of rescue work was done by Shahbaz Ahmad (41 off 27) and Suyash Prabhudesai (34 off 18). Both the batters kept RCB in the chase with their brilliant 60 runs partnership, however, CSK bowlers, last night, were too good to bow down against any opposition.

In the end, finisher Dinesh Karthik (34 off 14) brought RCB’s innings to life, however, he was also sent back and the game was eventually sealed by Chennai Super Kings.

For CSK Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped four big wickets. Skipper Ravindra Jadeja returned back to his form and picked up three wickets while one apiece landed in the bag of Dwayne Bravo and Mukesh Chaudhary.
