India’s Strongest 15-Men Squad for Asia Cup 2023 – Prediction: The 16th edition of the Asia Cup is all set to commence between August and September, just ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The continental tournament will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as per the latest developments.

Following the conclusion of the meeting between the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Zaka Ashraf, it has been brought out that the Asia Cup 2023, which was earlier scheduled to be held solely in Pakistan, will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The move came after BCCI expressed its reluctance to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the event due to security threats. As a result, a hybrid model has been zeroed on by the members of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

With the confirmation of the venue of the event, it can be expected that the schedule for the Asia Cup 2023 will also be announced in the next few weeks. Reportedly the 6-team competition will begin on August 31, meanwhile, the final will be played on September 19.

Ahead of the release of the Asia Cup 2023 Schedule, let’s take a look at Predicted India’s Strongest 15-Men Squad for Asia Cup 2023.

WI vs IND T20 2023: BCCI announces Team India Squad

This year’s Asia Cup will be played in the One Day format in the wake of the impending ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Since the World Cup is approaching, the senior players will largely focus on 50-over cricket and will be sure to participate in the Asia Cup 2023.

India have a couple of injury concerns, which need to be mended before the Asia Cup 2023. The likes of KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer have uncertainties in their participation. While Bumrah and KL Rahul are expected to be fit for the tournament, Shreyas Iyer remains under a dark cloud.

India’s Squad for Asia Cup 2023 will be led by Rohit Sharma, who will also open the innings alongside Shubman Gill. Both batters will be first choice openers for the team followed by the services of Virat Kohli at number three.

Suryakumar Yadav will probably fill the number four spot in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who is unlikely to recover on time for the Asia Cup 2023. Yadav will be followed by KL Rahul, who will also assume the wicketkeeping duties in the team.

The two designated all-rounders in the team would be Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya. The latter will also be the vice-captain of the side. The bowling services will be spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, who will have the support of Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur in the pace department while Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will be India’s spin twin for the Asia Cup 2023.

Going to the backup players, Ishan Kishan would be the third opener in the team, who also provides a solid wicketkeeping option. All Rounder Axar Patel will cover the role of the third all-rounder.

India’s Squad for Asia Cup 2023:

  • Wicketkeeper: KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan
  • Batters: Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav
  • All-Rounders: Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya (vc), Axar Patel
  • Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav
