India’s Squad for Asia Cup 2022 Announced by the BCCI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally named India’s formidable 15-men squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022. The side will be led by skipper Rohit Sharma and his deputy KL Rahul.

On the expected line, senior speedster Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering a back injury. He is anticipated to be back on the field during India’s home series against South Africa and Australia. Besides, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel is also not included in India’s squad for Asia Cup 2022 owing to a hamstring injury.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will make their comeback in the tournament. While Kohli was rested for the last couple of series, Rahul had sustained an injury and was out of cricketing action since the wrap of the Tata IPL 2022.

Young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has got his maiden call-up for the multi-nation tournament. Arshdeep has been impressive in the limited opportunities he has received so far. He scalped seven wickets against West Indies in the five outings. Avesh Khan has also been rewarded for his excellent performance in the recent few T20Is.

Seasoned spinners Yuzvendra Chahal, and R Ashwin along with youngster Ravi Bishnoi will form the spin bowling unit. Axar Patel is kept as a backup spinner on the side.

Deepak Hooda has pipped Shreyas Iyer in the race of middle order batter. Hooda was consistent as well as versatile with his performance in the brief outings for the Indian team in the T20Is.

While, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar and Axar Patel are kept as backup players for the tournament.

Backup: Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Axar Patel.
