Indian cricket greats landed to rescue Mohammad Shami from online abuse.

T20 World Cup 2021: After a humiliating 10-wicket downfall against Pakistan on Sunday, team India has come under the scanner of fans as they began online troll. Minutes after Pakistan hit the winning runs to seal the match comprehensively, which apparently came in Mohammad Shami’s final over, the netizens linked his over with his religion in Dubai.

Shami became the scapegoat and the online hatred started to pour for the pacer. The fourth over of Mohammad Shami in which he gave away 17 runs from five deliveries turned the things against the speedster as several said the cricketer was sold out.

Although every Indian player was exposed to online abuse after the harsh loss against Pakistan, none of them was targetted on the basis of their religion, however, the situation was different against Mohammad Shami, who is a Muslim.

Even though the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, in the post-match press conference, said that Pakistan completely outplayed India, there was no full stop to the fan’s anger. People started commenting why Shami donned the Indian jersey when he has to play for Pakistan. Some even asked him to leave the country and play for Pakistan from now on.

Amidst all these, team India’s greats have extended their support to the pacer Mohammad Shami and came to his rescue. Prominent personalities such as Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh and Harsha Bhogle along with numerous others wrote to support the pacer.

“When we support #TeamIndia, we support every person who represents Team India.
