India vs England: Virat Kohli should be banned from Ahmedabad Test: David Lloyd

India vs England: Former England cricketer, coach and renowned cricketer David Llyod said that the Indian skipper should be banned from the Ahmedabad Test against England. Lloyd further added that the captain should be handed a three-match ban following the furious reaction to the umpire’s decision during the second test at Chennai against England.

Writing in his column for Daily Mail, Lloyd said: “(How can) the captain of a national team be allowed to criticise, berate, intimidate and ridicule an official on the pitch? Kohli certainly shouldn’t be playing in Ahmedabad next week. (He should miss) the next three Tests.”

David Lloyd referred to the incident which took place on day 3 of the second test when the visiting skipper was given not out in the DRS. The ball looked to hit wickets while the point of impact was given umpire’s call thus saving Joe Root in a close call to which Virat Kohli reacted furiously.

Kohli criticised the umpires on the field and looked like he wants to challenge the match officials.

Former England cricketer Nasser Hussain and Michael Vaughan were among the party of those who strongly protested against the act of Virat Kohli with the on-field umpires.

Lloyd further said in his column that the lack of action from match referee Javagal Srinath “beggars belief”.

“The lack of any action from match referee Javagal Srinath sitting there in his nice air-conditioned room beggars belief. Three and a half days and he has said nothing,” he said.

India, England and Australia chances for the ICC World Test Championship Finals

After the two test games, India and England are leveled with 1-1 and both the teams will head to Ahmedabad for the last two test games.

For both the sides, the ICC World Test Championship hopes are still alive where England needs to win both the games to seal the final place while Indian needs to win one out of two and end one game in the draw to reach the final.

If both the teams manage to win one-one game then it will be an advantage to Australia as they will head to the final. While both games ending in a draw will also make way for the Aussie side for the final.
