India vs Australia

India vs Australia: The focus from the Test series has now shifted to the ODIs between India and Australia. The two cricketing giants will take on each other in the three-match series. It will be a great opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their skills and cover all their bases before the Cricket World Cup 2023, which will take place in India later this year.

The result in the Test series went in favour of the hosts and they would want to achieve the same feat in the white-ball series as well. On the other hand, the visitors are the only team that has thumped India in the home ODI series since 2019 and they would want to script history again.

The ODI series between India and Australia will kick-start from 17th March. The first game will be played in Mumbai whereas the second and third match is slated to take place in Visakhapatnam and Chennai on the 19th and 22nd March respectively.

The first game of the ODI series between India and Australia is around the corner. There are many speculations about what combination will the hosts opt for and who will play in the absence of skipper Rohit Sharma at the top. Many fans and pundits have had their say about the same and the latest to join the bandwagon is former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer.

The Ranji Trophy Legend picked Ishan Kishan as the opener alongside Shubman Gill for the first game against Australia. He also backed the left-hander to be the keeper as well. At 3, there were no surprises as he picked Virat Kohli

In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who has been ruled out of the series due to a back injury, Jaffer backed Suryakumar Yadav to  bat at No.4. KL Rahul, who has done a staggering job at No.5 for India in ODIs, has retained his place in the team in the middle order in former Indian cricketer’s team.

Jaffer then slotted skipper Hardik Pandya at No.6. The all-rounder is likely to play a huge role for the team with both bat and ball. What came as a surprise was he picked three spinners in Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav. He also picked just two front-line pacers in the team in Mohammed Siraj and Mohammad Shami.

Here’s Wasim Jaffer’s Indian XI for the first ODI against Australia:
