The India Men’s National Cricket Team is set to return to action with a three-match ODI series against New Zealand, which is scheduled to start from January 11, 2026. The IND vs NZ ODI Series 2026 will be played across Vadodara, Rajkot, and Indore with matches scheduled on January 11, January 14, and January 18, 2026.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce India’s ODI squad very soon. However, they have already released the squad for the IND vs NZ T20I Series and the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. After winning the three-match ODI series against South Africa by 2-1, India will be looking to continue their winning streak.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Focus

Once again, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who are expected to be key players of India's ODI squad. Both star players are currently in exceptional form, especially Virat Kohli, who is in the same temperament and form as he was in his prime in 2016.

Recently, Rohit and Kohli played the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and both scored centuries in their first match of the domestic tournament. Rohit played an impressive knock of 155 while Kohli made 131. However, Rohit got ducked (0) in the second game while Kohli played a crucial knock of 77 runs.

Shubman Gill Likely to Return as Captain

After Gill wasn’t part of the T20 World Cup Squad, he is likely to return for the IND vs NZ ODI Series 2026. Shubman Gill missed the South Africa ODI series due to injury, and KL Rahul replaced him as captain, but Gill is now expected to return to the squad and is likely to lead India's ODI Team.

After recovering from injury, Hardik Pandya made his T20I comeback against South Africa and played exceptional cricket. Now, Hardik is expected to return to the ODI squad after his impressive performances against South Africa, where he contributed with both bat and ball.

Shreyas Iyer Unlikely to be Picked

Shreyas Iyer is currently under rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE), and he has also resumed batting, but is unlikely to be selected for the IND vs NZ ODI Series 2026. Iyer suffered a back injury during the Australia ODI series and has missed several matches since then.
