With just a few days remaining for the all-important ICC WTC Final between India and Australia, former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has named two key players that will be crucial to India’s success in the ICC WTC Final. The Punter has backed Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara to fire in the all-important clash.

Cheteshwar Pujara has been at his absolute best when it comes to Australia. The batter had made the Aussie bowlers toil hard and has piled up a huge amount of runs and no doubt will be extremely crucial for the team’s success in the WTC Final. He is one of the main reasons behind the team reaching the final. He has scored 2033 runs and five centuries in 24 Tests against Australia

On the other hand, Virat Kohli after having three poor years in international cricket has regained his full form and is scoring runs for fun. He was in great touch in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and recently scored 186 in the fourth Test against Australia in March.

Speaking in an ICC review, Ricky Ponting said that Virat Kohli has regained his form and it’s hard to see anyone past him as the most crucial batsman. He along with Rohit Sharma will be key for India. He said:

“The Australian team will be talking about Virat, no doubt about it, and they’ll be talking about Pujara. They’re the two. Pujara has been a thorn in their side a lot in the past, and in Australia, and this wicket will potentially be a lot more like an Australian pitch. They know that they’ll have to get him early.

“They also know that Virat over the last few weeks is probably just about back to his absolute best, albeit in T20 cricket. He told me that the feeling he’s getting right now is that he’s almost back to his best, and that’s an ominous warning for the Australians going into a one-off game.”

If India has to fancy their chances of winning, both Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli need to fire up. They will be a vital cog in India’s batting lineup in English conditions.
