The ICC WTC Final is around the corner. The summit clash will see India and Australia locking horns with each other from the 7th to the 11th of June at Oval England. Talking about India, this is for the second time they have reached the finals and with the kind of squad they have it’s fair to say that it’ll be the best opportunity for them to lift the ICC trophy after 13 years.
ICC WTC Final: Micheal Hussey picks two key players for India in World Test Championship Final against Australia
With just a few days remaining for the all-important ICC WTC Final between India and Australia, Mr Cricket Michael Hussey has picked two key players for the Indian Cricket Team in the summit clash. He backed two senior pros in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to come out well.
Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been the backbone of the Indian team in all three formats of late. They have piled up a huge amount of runs and no doubt will be extremely crucial for the team’s success in the WTC Final. The duo is one of the main reasons behind the team reaching the final.
Speaking in an ICC review, Michael Hussey said that Virat Kohli has regained his form and it’s hard to see anyone past him as the most crucial batsman. He along with Rohit Sharma will be key for India. He said:
“It’s hard to see past Virat Kohli. He (Kohli) is obviously coming back into some great form again in all forms of the game really, so both he and Rohit Sharma with the bat are going to be important for India.”
Rohit Sharma is currently the leading run-getter in the World Test Championship Final. Whereas on the other Virat Kohli of late has been at his exceptional best and has piled up a huge amount of runs. If India has to fancy their chances of winning, both need to fire up.
ICC WTC Final: Michael Hussey picks Pat Cummins as a key player for Australia
Michael Hussey also went to pick a key player for Australia in the ICC WTC Final. He feels that English conditions will give Australian bowlers an edge over India. He said that skipper Pat Cummins will be vital for the team. He elaborated:
“It is going to be played in England, so English conditions will be different to the recent series in India, so I think the fast bowlers are going to be important. Pat Cummins (is key for Australia) and Josh Hazlewood might be fit again which would be nice for Australia.”
