Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell did unimaginable in the ICC World Cup 2023 game against Afghanistan. The all-rounder won his team’s match from the jaws of defeat and powered his team into the semi-final of the biggest event in cricket

Australia looked down and dusted and it seemed that Afghanistan would pull another upset. While defending 292 runs, the Men in Yellow looked down and dusted. They were 91/7 and even the win predictor was just 6% in favour of the five-time World Cup champions. 

It was then that Glenn Maxwell chipped in and took the game away from Afghanistan. The all-rounder had luck in his favour as well as he was dropped twice but after that he made the opposition pay. The right-hander played the best knock in the ICC World Cup 2023, potentially in ODIs. 

Glenn Maxwell batted staggering well and first notched up his ton. However, the job was still undone and to worsen the case more his legs cramped up and he was in immense pain. Despite battling pain, he continued fighting for his team and played some breathtaking shots.

Glenn Maxwell slammed an unbeaten 201 runs and won Australia the game from the jaws of defeat. The Pat Cummins-led side qualified for the semi-finals as they won the game by 3 wickets. He slammed 21 fours and 10 sixes in his innings.

Following Glenn Maxwell’s heroics in the ICC World Cup 2023, Indian batter Virat Kohli was left amazed by the way the all-rounder won the game for his team. He praised him for his exceptional knock and said that only he could’ve done that. 

Taking to his Instagram account, he said: “Only you could do this. Freak.”

This was Glenn Maxwell’s second ton in the World Cup 2023. The all-rounder earlier smashed the fastest century in the tournament when he smashed hundred in just 40 balls against Netherlands in Delhi. His form will be one of the biggest positives for Australia going into the World Cup ahead.
