ICC World Cup 2023 is just a few weeks away from now. The cricket extravaganza will take place in India from 5th October and the final is all set to take place on 19th November. The tournament will begin with a blockbuster clash between England and New Zealand. Coming to the Indian team, they will open their campaign against Australia on 8th October in Chennai.

With the ICC World Cup 2023 around the corner, former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth has picked his Indian squad for the tournament. What has caught the attention of many is he has dropped premier middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer from the team.
In the batting department, Kris Srikkanth picked skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as two openers in the team whereas Ishan Kishan is the backup opener and the keeper in this team for the ICC World Cup 2023. Virat Kohli also made a cut into his team for the tournament.
In the middle order, he picked KL Rahul, who will also be the keeper, alongside Suryakumar Yadav. The batter hasn’t been at his best in the ODIs and Srikkanth picking him over Iyer raised quite a few eyebrows. The latter on the other has been the team’s best batter in the middle order but has missed cricket in the last few months due to injury.
Kris Srikkanth picked Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel as the three all-rounders in his team. The trio not doubt will be there in the main team as well because of the ability they possess. They are expected to play a huge role for the team in the tournament. Alongside them, he also picked Kuldeep Yadav as spinner in the team.
In the fast bowling department, the former Indian cricketer went in with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur. He also left out Prasidh Krishna from the team. The pacer has been named in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup.
