ICC World Cup 2023: Australia announces strong 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup
Australia will be one of the red-hot favourites to win the ICC World Cup 2023. The five-time champions will open their campaign against hosts India on 8th October in Chennai. Cricket Australia on Wednesday (6th October) named the squad for the tournament.
The team will be captained by Pat Cummins with Steve Smith being his deputy. They recently named a provisional squad for the tournament and from that team, they have omitted Aaron Hardie, pacer Nathan Ellis and young spinner Tanveer Sangha.
Apart from Steve Smith, David Warner is the only specialist batter in the team along with keepers Alex Carey and Josh Inglis. The rest of the squad is filled up with plenty of all-rounders and it’s fair to say that they will be one of the dominating forces going into the ICC World Cup 2023.
Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Glenn Maxwell are the prime all-rounders in the team whereas Sean Abbott along with Ashton Agar are the bowling all-rounders in the Australian squad for the ICC World Cup 2023.
Pat Cummins will lead the bowling attack along with seasoned campaigners Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc. Whereas Adam Zampa will be handling the spin bowling for Australia in the World Cup.
