ICC Women's World Cup 2025: Points table after match 12, ENG vs SL

England had another dominating outing in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 as they beat Sri Lanka by 89 runs in the 12th game at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Put into bat, England, despite losing wickets in the middle phase, posted 253 for nine. In response, Sri Lanka struggled in the chase, getting all out for just 164.

Amy Jones was the first wicket to fall for England as she got out for 11. Tammy Beaumont (32) and Heather Knight (29)  steadied the ship with their min contributions. But the main hero of the innings was skipper Nat Sciver Brunt (117), who slammed a blistering century. 

Barring her, others struggled, failing to go past the 20-run mark. Brunt batted till the last ball and took her team’s total to 253 for nine. For Sri Lanka, Inoka Ranaweera bagged three wickets, while Udeshika Prabodhani and Sugandika Kumari also bagged two wickets each. 

Despite skipper Chamari Athapaththu walking off the field early, Sri Lanka had a decent start with Hasnini Perera (35) playing a vital hand. She along with Harshitha Samarawickrama (33) added 58 runs for the third wicket. But the introduction of Sophie Ecclestone changed the game for England as she picked four wickets in the seven overs. 

After that, the island nation couldn’t recover as England's bowlers were all over them. Nilakashi de Silva (23) tried to hold the fort but couldn’t as Nat Sciver Brunt and Charlotte Dean also chipped in with the ball. Sri Lanka got all out for 164, losing the game by 89 runs.

After 12, ENG vs SL in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025, England moved to the top spot in the points table. Australia were moved down to spot followed by India at three. South Africa is fourth, while New Zealand moved to fifth. Bangladesh dropped to sixth followed by Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
