The year 2007 began with a thrashing loss at the ICC ODI World Cup. All the senior players like Sachin, Ganguly, Kumble, and Dravid had decided to not play the T20I format. A team of fresh players with a fresh leader was chosen.
This young brigade won the tournament! The tournament saw the ball-out between India and Pakistan, the washout between India and Scotland, Yuvraj Singh hitting six 6s of Stuart Broad, and Joginder Sharma winning India the world cup. The team had a good ix of youth and experience. They had Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, and also fresher players like Rohit Sharma, RP Singh, and many more.
