ICC T20 World Cup 2026 schedule to be announced on this date, Ahmedabad to host final

In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in Times of India, it is learned that the International Cricket Council (ICC) is all set to announce the schedule of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The full schedule will be revealed next week with 20 teams set to take part in the tournament.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will begin on February 7 and will conclude with the final on March 8. The tournament will be played in India and Sri Lanka as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that they will use only a few venues in India as compared to the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023.
This was because the BCCI decided that locations used for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 in India wouldn’t the used again for the men’s T20 World Cup next year. The venues where the Women’s World Cup took place were Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Indore, and Navi Mumbai.
There were reports which claimed that the BCCI has shortlisted the five venues for the tournament and that these had been approved by the ICC as well. The venues are Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad, Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, Eden Gardens, Kolkata, MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, and the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final to be played in Ahmedabad
While two venues in Colombo and one in Kandy have been picked as the three venues in Sri Lanka. Pakistaning will be playing all their games in Sri Lanka due to the hybrid model decided by the ICC ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The reports also claimed that the final will be played in Ahmedabad, which also hosted the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Although the official confirmation is yet to be made, the reports have finalised the venues for the tournament.
India are the defending champions of the ICC T20 World Cup. They won the 2024 edition under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. With this win, India also ended their long wait for the ICC title. They would be hoping to defend their title now under Suryakumar Yadav.
