In the World Cup year, Indian Cricket Team have been dealt with quite a few blows as many of their star players are nursing injury and there’s still no clarity if they will be back for the tournament or not. This has been concerning for the team as without their star players, it’ll be difficult for them to turn up.

One of the key players that is absent from the team for a while now is Shreyas Iyer. The batter complained of back pain during the Test series against Australia earlier this year and since then has been out of action, missing IPL as well as the ICC WTC Final.

Shreyas Iyer underwent surgery for his back and has been going well in his recovery process. The batter has resumed batting in the nets but there’s no clarity about when he will return. BCCI also provided an update about his fitness, saying that he has resumed batting.

It was expected that Shreyas Iyer would make a return to the team through the T20I series against Ireland, which is marking Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback as well. But this wasn’t the case and he wasn’t named in the team. As per the reports BCCI have said that rushing him into international action straight away with the Asia Cup could be a premature decision.
