Jemimah's golden innings created history

"I want to give God the glory.  I was not able to complete this on my own.  I'm grateful to my parents, coach, and everyone else who supported me.  For me, the past month has been really challenging.  I was experiencing daily anxiety and wasn't in good mental health.  Almost every day of this tournament brought me to tears.  However, I reasoned that since God had carried me this far, pleasant things must be on the horizon."

She also revealed that she was told only minutes before the match that she would be batting at the number three spot. "I was informed that I would bat at number three while I was taking a shower.  This is about the nation, not about myself, I reasoned. India's win was the main focus of today, not my century."

Past failures made me stronger

Jemimah also recalled being left out of the World Cup squad last year, despite being in good form. She remarked, "I thought I was finished, I told myself, however, 'Not yet.' I improved, concentrated on developing my mental toughness, and returned. The outcome of all that effort is now."

After the Women in Blue's historic triumph, head coach Amol Muzumdar remarked, "Jemimah didn't just bat; she wrote an emotional story for India." Future generations will remember her innings.
