In what was a rare sight, Virat Kohli missed his ODI ton by just a few runs. The first ODI between the Indian Cricket Team and the New Zealand Cricket Team took place at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.

One of the major reasons behind India’s win was Virat Kohli. After New Zealand set a massive target of 301, India were off to a flying start with Rohit Sharma slamming a quick-fire 26. But he lost his wicket after a start and then the onus came on Kohli.

Virat Kohli took the attack to the New Zealand bowlers right from the start and was all over them. He slammed the bowlers all over the park and put his team in a dominating position, slamming a brutal fifty and carrying his golden form with the bat. 

Virat Kohli was looking all set for a big ton in the first IND vs NZ ODI, but fate had something else written for him. He unfortunately fell for 93 off 91 balls with eight boundaries and one six to his name.

This marked the seventh time that Virat Kohli got out for 90s in ODI cricket. In the list of batters with the most times getting out in the 90s in ODIs, he sits at the second spot only after Sachin Tendulkar, who got out 17 times in the 90s in ODIs.
