GT skipper Hardik Pandya called to attend pre-IPL fitness camp ahead of IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Hardik Pandya has been called to attend the pre-IPL fitness camp along with his other team India mates to be held at National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore.

The premier all-rounder is likely to join the fitness camp in two days’ time. It is noteworthy that one of the two new IPL teams, Gujarat Titans (GT) recently appointed Hardik as the skipper of the team for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Hardik will be spearheading a 23-member T20 squad comprising several stars of the shortest format. The likes of Matthew Wade, Jason Roy, David Miller and Lokie Ferguson will play under Hardik’s leadership.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked all its contracted players to attend the mandatory fitness camp organised at the NCA. All the Indian players, who are not named in the test squad for two matches series against Sri Lanka, will have to take part in the camp.

As per the experts, the fitness camp is predominantly organised with a view of checking players’ fitness ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Indian players who are consistently featuring in limited overs games are asked to join the fitness camp.

Hardik last played international match in November 2021:

It is noteworthy that, Hardik hasn’t featured in any international match since last November. He played the final group match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE against Namibia and since then he has made himself unavailable for the national selection.

The cricketer was critisised heavily by the fans and experts for not fulfilling his all rounder’s role in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Hardik only managed to give his batting services in the first couple of matches of the T20 World Cup, however, after he came under public scrutiny, he delivered a few overs in the final matches of the same tournament.

The 28-years old cricketer has represented team India in 63 ODIs, 54 T20Is and 11 Test matches in which he has aggregate 1286, 553 and 532 runs respectively. While Hardik’s average remains in excess of 32 in the One Dayers, his T20I stats show drastic figures as the average slumps down to 20.

Meanwhile, with the ball in hand, the all-rounder has 17 wickets in 11 test matches along with 57 ODI wickets and 42 scalps in the shortest format.
