Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra likely to be Ahmedabad’s coaches for IPL 2022: In a major development former South African batsman Gary Kirsten is reportedly in the race to become IPL franchise Ahmedabad’s head coach for the IPL 2022. The reports further revealed the possible appointment of Ashish Nehra for the role of bowling coach in Ahmedabad.

Gary Kirsten is no doubt one of the most influential coaches of all time. He has provided his valuable services to Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the past. 

According to the reports, Ahmedabad has reached out to former Protea batsman Gray Kirsten and former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra for their respective roles.

It is noteworthy that Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra were part of the RCB coaching staff in the past. Moreover, when Kirsten led team India to the 2011 ODI World Cup win, Ashish Nehra was part of the Indian squad.

The earlier reports also stated that the Ahmedabad franchise officials have also contacted former team India coach Ravi Shastri along with bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar. The three were reported to be the front runners for their roles in the team.

CVC Capitals to get a green signal:

Meanwhile, the CVC Capitals Partners, owners of the Ahmedabad based IPL Franchise, is likely to get a nod from the BCCI. The franchise is expected to receive a letter of intent from the cricket board anytime soon.

CVC Capitals faced a serious backlash in social media after it was learnt to have connections with the big UK based betting firms. The BCCI formed a panel of legal bigwigs to investigate the matter, which is soon going to give its verdict.

The franchise is probable to get a positive signal from the Indian cricket board.
