Eoin Morgan dissect India’s failure in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia: Former England cricketer, Eoin Morgan has questioned India’s conservative batting approach in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia and pinned it as the major factor in deciding India’s fate in the show-piece event. Team India was knocked out of the World Cup by England in the second semi-final.

The Indian side, which boasted to play aggressively in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup 2022, suddenly dropped its adopted approach. As soon as the World Cup began, Rohit Sharma and Co looked conservative in their batting.

On the surface, in which England mustered 170 runs quite comfortably without losing a single wicket, team India only managed to score 168 runs. Moreover, the openers failed to provide a sizable opening stand which again proved vital in India’s loss.

“I any heavyweight battle when it comes to a side being dominated like they were… and let’s be honest, India were dominated from start to finish. You have to continue to throw punches and England did that.

Morgan lauded Jos Buttler’s captaincy in the second semi-final. The English skipper didn’t let Indian batters get settled at any point in the innings.

“Jos Buttler’s captaincy was outstanding; his tactics and strategies throughout the whole game were absolutely excellent. England made India play that way; they strangled them and it looked like India didn’t have a Plan B or Plan C to fall back on. We were watching and talking about why India chose to play that way,” Morgan said while talking to SportsTak.

The former World Cup-winning captain recalled how they lauded the Indian captain and head coach for their positive intent a couple of months ago when India toured England.

“Perhaps you can question their planning into the game or the lack of adaptation when England had been so strong. Rewind the clock 5-6 months ago when India visited England and again dominated by playing this free-spirited, very aggressive and positive mantra under Rohit Sharma. We sat back and lauded Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma but certainly it wasn’t evident in Adelaide,” Morgan added.

India’s World Cup trophy draught continued as England clinched a resounding victory by 10 wickets against India. With the loss, India’s hopes to get their second T20 World Cup title got shattered.
