The most proactive team in the trading window was Kolkata Knight Riders, who acquired the services of all-rounder Shardul Thakur from India from Delhi Capitals, bowler Lockie Ferguson of New Zealand, and wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan from reigning champion Gujarat Titans. Aman Khan was also swapped by KKR to the Delhi Capitals.

The likes of CSK, RCB, and RR, on the other hand, stood quiet during the trading window. Continuing their trend, the Punjab Kings replaced Mayank Agarwal as captain with experienced batter Shikhar Dhawan, who will now work under head coach Trevor Bayliss.
