T20 World Cup 2021: In a shocking incident, the chief curator of Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Mohan Singh, dies hours before the start of all-important New Zealand vs Afghanistan clash in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021.

While the exact reasons for his death are still unknown, UAE cricket confirmed the unfortunate demise of the chief curator. The official statement from the cricket board is awaited.

“It happened today and full details will be revealed when things are more clear. It is very unfortunate,” said a source.

Mohan Singh has worked closely with former BCCI chief curator Daljit Singh in Mohali during his childhood days. Daljit remembered Mohan to be a talented, bright kid when he came to him during his childhood days.

“He was a bright kid when he came to me. A very talented and hardworking person. He hailed from Garhwal and also remember him as a family man.

“After he went to the UAE, he used to come visit every time he was in the country but I had not seen him for a while. Gone too soon and it is really tragic,” Daljit said.

International Cricket Council (ICC) also sent its condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the strength of the family.

“We are deeply saddened and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, Abu Dhabi Cricket and everyone connected with the event,” said ICC spokesperson.
