Vivo IPL 2021: The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see Chennai Super Kings (CSK) donning a new jersey. The official handle of the three times champions revealed the jersey to the fans on Wednesday.
The new jersey is with added camouflage on the shoulder along with three stars above the franchise logo. This will be the first time since the inception of IPL that CSK will don a redesigned jersey.
Everything displayed in the CSK’s new jersey has a meaning to it whether it is camouflage or gold bands or three stars above the franchise logo.
CSK said that the added camouflage on the shoulder is a tribute to the Indian armed forces for their selfless service to the nation. It is noteworthy that CSK skipper MS Dhoni has an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army.
The three stars over the franchise logo define three IPL titles won by the team in 2010, 2011 and 2018. While the gold bands signify the team’s high standards in both consistency to do well and fair play.
Chennai Super Kings has won IPL’s fair play award six times in 11 years which is the most by any franchise in IPL. The franchise is also consistent to do extremely well in the IPL. They have managed to reach IPL 12 times in the last 13 seasons which is a tremendous record.
“It has been on our mind for some time now to find ways to raise awareness about the significant and selfless role of the armed forces. The camouflage is an appreciation of their service… they are the true heroes,” Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan said.
