BREAKING!! Virat Kohli drops official confirmation on World Cup participation
In a recent attention-grabbing X post, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli shared his personal opinion about the game and hinted towards his possible participation in the upcoming ICC event for India. Kohli's post went viral, amid speculations over his place in the Indian squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Virat returns to play for India after almost 7 months of exile, and his future seems uncertain until he draws a promising performance out of the three-match ODI series. He last played in the ICC Champions Trophy and then went on to announce his retirement from the longest of the game, with a decision to continue only in the 50-over of the game.
Virat Kohli makes speculations louder with cryptic X post
Virat Kohli rarely shares anything personal on social media, but with the latest post, he has grabbed the attention of his fans as well as critics on social media. The post has fueled the speculation surrounding him for the ICC World Cup 2027 squad and has increased the debate over his future in international cricket.
"The only time you truly fail is when you decide to give up," Kohli wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Just two days back, when India won the first Test series under Gautam Gambhir's coachship, even the Indian head coach had shown great admiration for the two veteran cricketers marking their comeback in the Australia tour. He expressed optimism and wished them well; however, he also hinted at their possible exclusion if they fail to perform.
"They were not asked to retire" - Former Indian coach's verdict on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
Ahead of their comeback into International cricket, the former Indian coach Ravi Shastri made a colossal statement on the two Indian veterans, claiming that no one had asked them to retire from Test cricket. They went out on their own and are expected to take a call themselves in the ODIs as well.
“(Virat Kohli is) a master chaser, and Rohit is explosive at the top. They feel they've got enough cricket in them,” Shastri said on Fox Sports.
“It depends how hungry you are, how fit you are, whether that passion for the game is still there. With their experience, it'll come in very handy,” he added.
However, the batter simply stated that the objective should be going series by series, rather than citing the plans for the World Cup, which is too far to be discussed now.
“I would say take it one series at a time. It's still a long way to go. Virat retired from Test Cricket, as did Rohit. They were not asked to retire. They went on their own. I would think it's similar. If they're not enjoying it, if the form is not good, you never know. They might pull the plug themselves," noted Shastri.
