Sanju Samson ditches CSK, accelerates move to Delhi Capitals; What's the verdict on KL Rahul?
Ever since Sanju Samson expressed his desire to part ways with his previous franchise for the upcoming IPL season, however, the rounds of his possible move to the Delhi Capitals have shaken the internet. This has further raised doubts over KL Rahul's spot in the side.
The upcoming trade window of the IPL season has been widened by the inclusion of several high-profile names, the latest of them being Sanju Samson and KL Rahul. This has come after Samson had informed the team management of his previous franchise to release him, with the desire to explore several new opportunities.
Sanju Samson is eyeing a move to the Delhi Capitals
One of the main reasons why Samson opted to move out of the Rajasthan Royals side was the growing difference with the team management. He is hence set to join a brand where he will get more priority and will be able to expand his personal brand.
As a reporter for the Times of India, the Delhi Capitals are eyeing Sanju Samson to bolster their squad and also serve as a probable captain. It has also been noted that ever since Rishabh Pant's departure, the Capitals have been on the search for a skipper, and Sanju Samson might just be the name they were looking for.
Samson, anyway, had already played for the Delhi franchise before joining the Rajasthan Royals. Earlier, CSK were the leading contenders for Samson's trade, but reportedly, the Royals had asked for either Ruturaj Gaikwad or Ravindra Jadeja in return.
Former IPL Champions cite KKR for the upcoming IPL auction
Meanwhile, KL Rahul, the other Indian wicket-keeper, had made a move from Lucknow Super Giants to the Delhi Capitals and had a stellar season with them in 2025. With Samson's move, a doubt is imposed on KL Rahul's future with the franchise.
It has been reported that KL Rahul is on the target list for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The Knight Riders are interested in acquiring Rahul via a trade deal and have also considered making him the captain of the side. KL Rahul is the perfect solution for KKR's need for an opener, wicket-keeper and also a seasoned captain.
However, the Capitals have reportedly not considered parting ways with Rahul and rejected KKR's offer of cash + Rovamn Powell. The IPL 2026 auction is scheduled for the period between December 13th and 15th, while the player retention deadline is on the 15th of November.
