Breaking News: India squad for the Asia Cup 2025 announced! Shubman Gill named vice-captain
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the team in the tournament, which will be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025 will see the return of Shubman Gill in the team. He will be there as the vice-captain, and this comes as big news, as he has been out of the setup for a long time, with his last game coming in 2023.
What was amazing to see was that Shreyas Iyer wasn't there. The batter has done nothing wrong in the format and had a sensational outing with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, slamming 604 runs in the league.
In the batting department, along with skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Shubman Gill are the two specialist batters. The rest are the all-rounders in Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube. Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are the keepers.
The Indian pace department will be headed by Jasprit Bumrah, and he will be there along with Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana. The spin department includes Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav.
