In what proves to be a significant development for Indian Cricket, former Cricketer and the current mentor of three time IPL winners Kolkata Knight Riders – Gautam Gambhir is set to replace Rahul Dravid as Indian Men’s National Cricket Team’s Head Coach. Gambhir, who as a mentor helped KKR lift their third IPL title, is regarded as the frontrunner to replace Rahul Dravid, whose tenure as the Men in Blue’s head coach is going to end post the conclusion of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

According to a news report of popular Cricket website Cricbuzz, the phrase ‘Desh Ke Liye Karna Hai’ (We Must Do It For Our Country) has become the go – to mantra within the coach selection committee of Indian Cricket. This sentiment is shared commonly by both Gautam Gambhir and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), showcasing their commitment towards national performance and pride. According to Cricbuzz, Gambhir and BCCI secretary Jay Shah have heavily focused on this nationalism theme of ‘Desh Ke liye Karna Hai’.

On Sunday, Cricbuzz reported that a high profile IPL franchise owner, who has close ties with the BCCI, confirmed Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as India’s new head coach. In addition to this, a renowned commentator who has concrete inside knowledge of the affairs of BCCI stated that efforts to secure Gambhir’s appointment as the next Indian head coach are in full swing. The only thing which remains is an official announcement regarding the same from the BCCI.

Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as the Indian head coach is anticipated to start a new era for Indian Cricket. If the 42 year old ends up becoming the next head coach, then he will clearly focus on helping the Men in Blue achieve International Cricket success and he would also like to eliminate Indian Cricket’s hero worshiping culture.

Gambhir’s KKR recently won the IPL 2024 final against SRH and lifted their third Indian Premier League trophy on 26th May at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium. The 42 year old former Indian Cricketer returned to the Kolkata Knight Riders as a mentor and he made some crucial decisions which helped the Kolkata based franchise in becoming IPL champions for the third time.
