BCCI announced India’s squad for the World Test Championship Final, Hardik, Shaw, Bhuvneshwar to miss.

ICC Test Championship Final: The Indian Cricket Board on Friday announced a 20-men strong squad for the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has left out opener Prithvi Shaw, all rounder Hardik Pandya and ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Tweaker Kuldeep Yadav and Navdeep Saini are also amongst the missing players in the squad.

KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha’s selection is subjected to fitness. Rahul was recently diagnosed with appendicitis while Saha was tested covid-positive on 4th May.

Mohammad Shami, Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari are back with the Test side. All the aforementioned players had sustained injuries in the Australia tour last year however they have recovered well.

India will lock horns with New Zealand for the final of the inaugural of the ICC World Test Championship at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, England. The game will be played from June 18-22. 

The BCCI also mentioned that the same squad will face England in the five games Test series post the Test Championship Final.

A Easwaran, Avesh Khan, A Nagwaswalla and Prasidh Krishna are named amongst the stand by players.

India’s squad: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (Captain), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), R. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohd. Shami, Md. Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul (subject to fitness clearance), Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper; subject to fitness clearance).

Standby Players: A Easwaran, Avesh Khan, A Nagwaswalla and Prasidh Krishna.
