Vivo IPL 2021: CSK’s L Balaji and Michael Hussey airlifted to Chennai in an air ambulance for the quarantine.

Vivo IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling and batting coach L Balaji and Michael Hussey who had tested covid-positive have been airlifted to Chennai from Delhi in an Air-Ambulance to complete their mandatory quarantine period, said the franchise top official.

Hussey and Balaji were on Tuesday tested covid-positive following the indefinite suspension of the fourteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“We decided to bring Hussey and Balaji to Chennai by an air ambulance as we have better contacts here and wanted to ensure better medical facilities in case of any need,” the CSK official told PTI.

CSK officials further stated that both the members are “asymptomatic and doing fine”.

Michael Hussey who comes from Australia will have to complete his quarantine and test covid-negative multiple times in order to leave India and head back to his nation.

“Hussey has to wait and get a COVID negative report before he can leave India. We will make arrangements for a charter when it is safe for him to fly,” the official added.

However, the other Australian recruits of IPL have been taken to the Maldives. All the players will serve the waiting period there before they become eligible to board the flights to Australia.

The franchise arranged the chartered flights for all the players so that they reach their destinations safely.

A member of CSK confirmed that the overseas recruits of the team will head back at first followed by the Indian contingent while the skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be the last one to bid adieu to the team hotel in Delhi.
