BCCI announce mammoth INR 125 Crore as prize money for India women vs South Africa women World Cup Final

The India women vs South Africa women World Cup final sets new standards in Women's cricket as the BCCI announces a huge reward if India can manage to win their first Women's World Cup. BCCI has confirmed a report of INR 125 crores. 

At the back of a breathtaking innings from Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, the Women in Blue earned a victory against the mighty Aussies. The Aussies were the 7-time champions and the defending champions of the World Cup, but India ended their 15-match winning streak in the World Cup. 

The India Women advanced into the finals for the third time in the history of the World Cup. They finished as runners-up in the 2005 and 2017 editions. Indian Women received a handsome amount of money for the runners-up position in 2017, as they were rewarded with INR 50 Lakh per player. 

Nearly eight years have passed since then; the BCCI has confirmed a huge INR 125 Crores. The prize money for each cricketer could be multiplied by around 10 times since their last World Cup showdown. 

BCCI is following Jay Shah's 'equal pay' policy for the Women's World Cup

Former BCCI secretary Jay Shah had announced a whopping INR 125 crores for the Indian Men's team when they defeated South Africa and won the T20 World Cup in 2024. He had always urged equal pay for both the Men's and Women's cricketers. 

"The BCCI supports equal pay for men and women, and hence there are a lot of discussions that if our girls win the World Cup, the reward won't be anything less compared to men's global triumph. But it isn't nice to make an announcement before they win the Cup," a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.

The 'equal pay' policy is still intact as the Men's and Women's cricketers have been announced to be paid an equal amount after a maiden World Cup triumph, which seems likely under home conditions.
