<p>Ajinkya Rahane, who was unexpectedly called up for the World Test Championship final earlier this year and promoted to vice-captain for the West Indies Tests, did not have a spot. Shreyas Iyer has taken his position.</p>



<p>It's interesting to note that KL Rahul got a spot in the Test team as a wicketkeeper. Additionally, this is his first time playing for the red ball team since he was dropped during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year. His opponent for the keeper's spot in the starting eleven will be Ishan Kishan. This implies that Rahul will play in the middle order if he chooses to play.</p>

<p>India are on a tour of South Africa where they are scheduled to play a three-match T20I series, three-match ODI series, and two tests. The first T20I was abandoned due to rain and South Africa won the second. The big names of India were back on the side but India were on the losing corner. </p>



<p>After another brilliant innings of 56 runs with a strike rate of over 150, Surya shone bright, and Rinku Singh wasn't too far. In fact, Rinku's innings was more crucial and was more impactful at that stage. An unbeaten 68 with a strike rate of 170+ guided India to reach a good score but they were meant to lose that day.</p>

<p>Surya Kumar Yadav is still the Number 1 ranked T20I player with 865 rating points. He tops the board by the lead of 68 rating points to the second-ranked batsman Mohammed Rizwan. Mohammad Rizwan of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/category/cricket-team/icc-teams/pakistan/">Pakistan</a>&nbsp;holds the second rank with 787 rating points. He has had a really good T20I season back this year and is the top run scorer for Pakistan in the shortest format this year.</p>



<p>Aiden Markram also played a very crucial knock of 30 runs in 17 balls which took the game out of India's reach. He is still at the 3rd rank in the latest updated T20I player rankings with 758 rating points. He is followed by another Pakistani batsman- the former skipper Babar Azam. Babar Azam sits 4th with a rating of 734.</p>

<p>Reeza Hendricks also made some gains from his match-winning innings. He climbed to the 8th spot after 49 off just 27 balls.</p>



<p>Now if we talk about bowling rankings, nothing much has changed in the list from the last week. Ravi Bishnoi still maintains the joint number 1 rank with Rashid Khan. They both own 692 rating points. Again, only spinners make up the top 5 in the bowling rankings. With 679 rating points, Wanindu Hasaranga and Adil Rashid share third place; Maheesh Theekshana is in fifth place with 677 rating points. </p>



<p>All four of the top five bowlers?aside from Theeksana?are wrist spinners. <p>In the second inning, the Indian team was all out for just 131 runs. Apart from Virat Kohli, no batsman from the team could stand against the Proteus bowling attack. Captain Rohit Sharma was out for five runs in the first inning and out for a duck in the second inning. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored five runs, and the Indian team's Prince Shubman Gill, who was playing in place of Cheteshwar Pujara, also got clean bowled by Jansen after scoring 26 runs.</p>

<p><strong>SA vs IND: 2 Changes India can make for 2nd Test against South Africa: </strong>After going down in the first test at the SuperSport Park in Centurian, the stage is all set for the 2nd game of the series between India and South Africa. This time the contest will be held at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town, starting January 03.</p>



<p>Team India couldn't match the competition which South Africa posted in the first test. The game was wrapped up by the Proteas inside three days and handed a defeat to Team India by an innings and 32 runs.</p>



<p>Following the first test loss, Team India has significantly worked harder on their skills. The team conducted a couple of optional practice sessions during the breaks to mend the flaws. The Indian side is likely to undergo another training session today - January 02 - before they turn up for the 2nd test on January 03.</p>



<p>The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shardul Thakur, R Ashwin and Yashasvi Jaiswal among others were in attendance during the optional session at the SuperSport Park and Newlands Stadium. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>SA vs IND: 2 Changes India can make for 2nd Test</strong></h2>

<p>Team India is very likely to make changes to the playing11 for the second test against South Africa. The team felt the need for a decent batter down the order at number 7, a place which is usually owned by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder is expected to back into the side after missing out on the first test against South Africa due to back spasms. </p>



<p>"Ravindra Jadeja, if fit, should come back in the team. Ashwin did bowl well from what was expected out of him on that pitch but we missed Jadeja's control while batting at number 7 in Centurion,? Pathan told Star Sports.?</p>



<p>In another change indicated by Irfan Pathan, the Indian side can look towards Mukesh Kumar in the pace bowling department if they don't feel confident going with Prasidh Krishna, who made his test debut in the last game. </p>



<p>Prasidh Krishna didn't have a memorable outing in his debut match. The pacer conceded runs at an economy of 4.70 and could only pick a solitary wicket.</p>



<p>"If you're Rohit Sharma and you want to go with the same bowling attack, that's also fine. But if you're thinking of making a change, Mukesh Kumar could come in for Prasidh Krishna. But if you feel Prasidh is confident in the nets, then he should be backed for the second Test," he added.</p>
