Babar Azam will lead Pakistan till the 2025 Champions Trophy

Mohsin Naqvi – Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a press conference conducted on Sunday announced that the selection committee will decide the future of Babar Azam’s captaincy.

He confirmed that Azam will carry on with his leadership duties till the 2025 Champions Trophy next year but he is hopeful that the 29 year old will continue leading the Pakistani Men’s National Cricket Team for a really long time.

“The decision on Babar’s future as a captain will be taken by the selection committee. For now, he will be leading the team till the 2025 Champions Trophy,” Mohsin Naqvi said.

“I hope Babar’s tenure as a captain lasts for a really long time. It’s up to the selection committee to decide which player they think is capable of representing Pakistan at the highest level in Cricket, I don’t have the authority in terms of player selections,” Naqvi added.

It’s worth noting that Babar Azam was recently reappointed as the white ball skipper of the Shaheens after being relieved of his leadership duties from all formats post the conclusion of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Babar captained the Men in Green in the recently concluded five match T20i series against New Zealand which ended in a draw (2-2).
