The Australian Cricket Team have made two massive changes to their squad for the last Test of the Ashes 2025-26 against the England Cricket Team. Josh Inglis and Beau Webster have been released from the squad ahead of the fifth test at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

This comes after the Australian Cricket Team lost the fourth Test of the Ashes 2025-26 against the England Cricket Team. In what was their first win on Australian soil in 15 days, England beat Australia by four wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

Josh Inglis and Beau Webster released from Australia squad to play the BBL 2025-26.

The MCG Test match ended in two days and after losing the game just inside they have released Josh Inglis and Beau Webster. The duo will be playing in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 at the given time and are expected to rejoin the squad for the next game.

The fifth AUS vs ENG Test will begin on 4th January at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. Both weren’t part of the squad for the last match and are expected to sit on the bench for the last game of the series as well in Sydney.

Their presence will be a big boost for their BBL teams as both are two of the best players in cricket currently. Webster will play for the Hobart Hurricanes against the Melbourne Renegades on December 29, while Inglis will be back with the Perth Scorchers for their December 30 fixtures against the Sydney.

Since Australia have a settled side in the Ashes, they are very likely to make any changes to their squad for the last match.

"Webster will be available for the Hobart Hurricanes who play the Melbourne Renegades at Ninja Stadium in Hobart on Monday. Inglis will be available for the Perth Scorchers who play the Sydney Thunder at ENGIE Stadium on Tuesday. Both players will return to the Australian squad on New Year’s Eve to prepare for the Ashes Test at the SCG," Cricket Australia confirmed via a release on Sunday

Australia expected squad for fifth Test

Steven Smith (captain), Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Jake Weathrald, Alex Carey (wicketkeeper), Josh Inglis (wicketkeeper), Marnus Labuschagne, Beau Webster, Michael Neser, Cameron Green, Scott Boland, Mitchell Strac Todd Murphy, Jhye Richardson, Brendan Doggett
