Pakistan has made it to the trophy-deciding clash of the T20 Asia Cup 2025! One team performed more consistently than the other, even though both were known for their unpredictability. You got it right; it's Bangladesh. Salman Agha and his team managed to pull off a surprising victory due to their own collapse. India and Pakistan are set to clash in the Asia Cup final for the very first time.
It has been a day where the bowlers have enjoyed operating. If Bangladesh impressed with their bowling efforts at the start of the match, the lack of proper batting application hurt them dearly. It has cost them a place in the final of this competition as they botch what should have been a comfortable chase.

An early wicket did not deter the positive approach of batting by Bangladesh. Saif Hassan showed his ability to find the big shots again as he has struck 12 sixes in this tournament. A lot could be said about the lack of coordination between the Pakistan fielders when they missed out on a run-out opportunity but the poor shot selection on the part of the Bangladesh batters did not help their cause. 

Bangladesh might have lost a wicket or two more than what they would have liked at the end of the power play. But the nature of the chase was such that all they needed was a couple of meaningful partnerships to win. Mahedi Hasan was in and out of the squad. After having been promoted to the top of the order, this was a significant opportunity for him to stamp his authority as a mainstay in this unit. Unfortunately, that did not materialise. 

Nawaz had not bowled for a couple of matches. Wonder if that became a useful data point in the plans of the Bangladesh batting side to take some calculated risks against him and accumulate quick runs. That seemed to be the way to go but the fall of yet another wicket proved to be a hindrance to their progress. And Bangladesh only had themselves to blame in their pursuit for big shots, that emerged as a pivotal reason of their downfall.

Bangladesh previously demonstrated their capability by taking charge during the initial stages after opting to bowl first. Pakistan found themselves in dire straits at 55/5 after 12 overs as the Tigers relentlessly took wickets throughout the Powerplay. With crucial contributions from Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Haris, and Mohammad Nawaz, they managed to reach a total of 135 runs.

Bangladesh let Pakistan escape from a tight spot after being firmly in control, conceding 80 runs in the last eight overs as Afridi and Nawaz capitalized on missed catches. It almost became a predictable sequence of events for any Bangladesh batter to resort to a big shot, fraught with danger when they encounter a string of dot balls. Jaker Ali came and perished as the stranglehold continued to choke Bangladesh. This has been a disappointing chase by Bangladesh after what was an inspiring bowling show. Pakistan will play India in the final of the Asia Cup on Sunday for the first time in the history of the competition!
